Scholarship is a the cornerstones of the Panhellenic community. The Panhellenic Association promotes academic excellence, recognize high-achieving individuals, and provides valuable resources that aid women in their current studies and future endeavors. Nearly every quarter, the average GPA for the Panhellenic community is higher than the average female student. In addition, Northwestern’s Panhellenic Association is proud to hold the highest Panhellenic GPA in the Big Ten Conference.

During finals week, the Panhellenic Association encourages Greek students to study in the library through the quarterly event Letters at the Library. Panhellenic women also participate in faculty appreciation to acknowledge exceptional professors and departments at Northwestern. Additionally, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life recognizes chapters’ outstanding academic achievements at the annual Greek Awards Ceremony. Northwestern’s Panhellenic Association promotes a well-rounded educational experience for our members  and is extremely proud of the scholastic achievements of our community.

Honors Societies

Gamma Sigma Alpha, Beta Tau Chapter

Founded: 1995

Gamma Sigma Alpha, National Greek Academic Honor Society, was founded to encourage intellectual interaction between Greek students and the academic community. The society promotes educational advancement, instilling a spirit of cooperation among Greek students and organizations and encouraging scholastic excellence. Eligibility for membership is based on grade point average (GPA) and active membership in their fraternity or sorority chapter. The society upholds the highest ideals of scholastic achievement, only admitting students who average 3.65 or above (on a 4.0 scale) during their Junior or Senior year. Selection takes place during the Fall and Spring quarter.

Order of Omega, Delta Nu Chapter

Founded: April 26th, 1982

Order of Omega recognizes junior and/or senior fraternity and sorority members who have contributed greatly to the fraternity and sorority community as well as the campus at large during their time at Northwestern. The objectives of Order of Omega are:

  • to recognize members of the Greek community who have attained a high standard of leadership in inter-fraternity activities and encourage continued involvement
  • to bring together outstanding fraternity men and women to contribute to molding the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate fraternity affairs
  • to unify  Greek students, faculty and alumni on a basis of mutual interest, understanding and mentorship
  • to create an atmosphere where ideas and issues are discussed openly in order to achieve solutions to the challenges in our community

Rho Lambda, Beta Xi Chapter

Founded: November 14, 1974

The Greek letters Rho Lambda stand for Panhellenic leadership.The flame symbolizes Rho Lambda because  leaders light a torch in the darkness for others to follow. Rho Lambda honors women who exhibit the highest qualities of leadership and service to the Panhellenic community and their sorority chapter. These are the women who  further the ideals and principles of the Panhellenic Association throughout their years as active members and beyond. Selection takes place during the fall and spring quarter of  potential members’ junior or senior year.
